THE BRAIN AND ADDICTION |
|

'One of the
most damaging possibilities in substance misuse fields is that someone arrives
wanting help, in immediate crisis, and they are put in front of a
compassionate worker who knows nothing about addiction – at best, they will stay
in a spiral of relapse, at worst, they will die.' (Sue Cox, Director, SMART UK) BRAIN WORKSHOP Next Workshop Dates 7th May 2009 4th June 2009 9th July 2009
What happens to a brain when it is addicted? How does this manifest? Can it be repaired? What can I do to help? Why do some people become dependent and others don't? Can we prevent addiction early on? Is there hope of recovery? What is the best way? Gain a comprehensive and up-to-date understanding about what happens to your clients and service users and why the way that their brains are wired has evolved.
